This Privacy Policy explains how Pixel Snake (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you play. Pixel Snake is developed by an independent developer, Artur Popov.
We wrote this policy in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us at the email address at the bottom of this page.
The short version
We do not run our own servers, and we do not collect, store, or sell any personal information ourselves. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking software of any kind. The only outside services involved are Apple’s own Game Center and App Store purchase systems, which Apple — not us — operates and protects under its own privacy policy. Everything else about your game (progress, settings, streaks, high scores) stays stored locally on your own device.
Information handled by Apple on our behalf
Game Center. If you choose to sign in to Game Center, Pixel Snake can show leaderboards and achievements and submit your score under your Game Center identity. This sign-in, and everything tied to it (your Game Center nickname, scores, achievement progress visible to other players), is handled entirely by Apple’s Game Center service, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We never see your Apple ID, real name, or contact details — only whatever Game Center’s APIs report back to the app (your score and rank).
Purchases. Pixel Snake offers one optional, one-time purchase (“Gold Status”) through Apple’s StoreKit / App Store In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and manages your payment method entirely on its own systems; we never see or store your card details, billing address, or any other payment information. We only receive a signed confirmation from Apple’s servers that tells the app whether you own Gold Status — nothing more.
Neither of these services is something we built, host, or control. If you have questions about the data Apple itself holds about your Game Center account or App Store purchases, Apple’s own privacy tools and policy are the right place to ask.
Information stored only on your device
Your game progress — best score, current and best daily streak, unlocked achievements, and your chosen settings (snake skin, field theme, control type, sound, obstacle style) — is stored locally using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults), shared only between the main app and its home-screen widgets on your own device (via an iOS App Group), so the widgets can show your streak and standing without the main app needing to be open. None of this data is transmitted to us, to Apple, or to anyone else. It never leaves your device except as part of your own device backups (iCloud/iTunes), which are between you and Apple.
Pixel Snake can also schedule local reminder notifications (for example, nudging you if your best score is old, or if you haven’t played in a while). These are scheduled entirely on your device by iOS itself — no push server is involved, and no data about you is sent anywhere to make this work. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
Children’s privacy
Pixel Snake has previously been listed in Apple’s Kids Category, and we take that seriously even though the app is no longer required to display that specific badge. In line with that:
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, child or adult — see “The short version” above.
- We do not show advertising of any kind, and we do not use behavioral tracking or third-party analytics SDKs.
- The one in-app purchase and any links leaving the app are placed behind an adult-verification step (a “parental gate”) before they can be reached, in line with Apple’s App Store Review Guideline 1.3.
- Signing in to Game Center is entirely optional and is handled by Apple’s own sign-in and Family Sharing / Ask to Buy protections, not by us.
If you’re a parent or guardian and have questions about what your child can access in Pixel Snake, contact us — see below.
Data we do not collect
To be explicit about it, Pixel Snake does not collect: your name, email address (unless you choose to email us), physical location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, advertising identifiers, or any behavioral/usage analytics. We have no user accounts of our own — the only “account” involved is your own Apple ID, via Apple’s Game Center and App Store, which Apple controls.
Your choices and rights
Because we don’t collect or hold personal data ourselves, there is generally nothing on our end to access, export, or delete beyond what’s already on your device — deleting the app removes its local data (App Group data may take a little longer to clear, following iOS’s own cleanup rules). For anything tied to your Apple ID — Game Center activity, purchase history — Apple’s own account privacy settings and support channels are the right place to manage or delete that data.
If you’re in a region with specific data-rights laws (such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA) and have a question that isn’t answered above, please reach out — we’re happy to help even though most such requests won’t find anything to act on, since we don’t hold the data in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If how Pixel Snake handles information ever changes — for example, if we add a new feature that involves new data — we’ll update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. We recommend checking back occasionally.
