This policy and the developer
This policy applies to Peel: Sticker Maker Cam (“Peel”). Peel helps you create stickers from a photograph, a camera image, or an image that you select using Apple’s system photo picker.
I, Artur Popov, am the developer and controller for the processing described in this policy. For privacy questions, please contact me at hello@apopov.dev.
In brief
Peel is completely free: it has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Peel does not create an account, display advertising, use advertising tracking, third-party analytics, or crash-reporting services. I do not operate a server for Peel, and I do not receive your photos, stickers, pack names, or settings during ordinary use of the app.
Photos and sticker creation are processed on your device. Data leaves the device only when you choose a system or third-party export feature, save a sticker to Photos, or contact support.
Data that Peel stores on your device
To create and display stickers, Peel stores locally:
- the source image that you select or capture;
- an extracted-subject mask, where one is created, and the finished sticker variants;
- the sticker creation date, selected shape, filter, and other visual settings;
- pack names, selected emoji, and pack contents;
- local app settings, such as sound and haptics settings.
The main app and its extensions use shared local storage on your device, for example to make your stickers available in the iMessage extension. This is not cloud storage and does not give me remote access to the data.
Peel does not alter the original photo in your library. It makes its own local copy only of the image that you select. The app does not request permission to browse your entire photo library: you select a specific image with Apple’s system Photos Picker.
Camera and Photos
The camera is used only when you open it to create a sticker. Image processing, subject extraction, and sticker preparation take place on your device.
At your request, Peel may ask for permission to add a finished sticker to your photo library. This is write-only permission: Peel does not receive permission to browse your entire library. A sticker saved to Photos remains there until you delete it in the Photos app.
Copying, sharing, and messengers
When you choose to do so, Peel may:
- put a sticker image on the system clipboard;
- pass a selected file to the system Share sheet;
- add a sticker to a message through the iMessage extension;
- export a sticker pack to WhatsApp or Telegram.
For an export to WhatsApp or Telegram, the created sticker images and their associated emoji are provided to the chosen service. Telegram may ask you to name a new pack. WhatsApp receives a temporary local clipboard item needed to import the pack; Peel sets an expiry for that item.
These actions start only after your choice. Further processing is governed by the rules of the service you choose, Apple, and any recipient to whom you send a sticker. I do not receive this data through Peel and do not control third-party processing.
Purposes and legal bases
Local processing of photos, stickers, and settings is necessary to provide the Peel features that you request. For people in the European Economic Area, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: providing the app function you request.
If you contact me by email, I process your email address, the content of your request, and the technical information needed to respond and resolve the issue. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in supporting and securing the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Recipients and data transfers
In ordinary operation, Peel does not send app content to a developer server or sell personal data.
The only recipients can be services that you choose to use:
- Apple, when you use the App Store, iMessage, the system photo picker, Photos saving, or the system Share sheet;
- WhatsApp or Telegram, when you export a pack to the respective service;
- a recipient you choose, when you send a sticker or file.
These services may process data in other countries under their own terms and settings. Their processing is not governed by this policy.
Retention and deletion
Local data stays on your device until you delete a sticker or pack in Peel or delete the app through iOS. Do not offload the app if you want to remove its local data: offloading may retain app documents for a later reinstall.
Device backups and images saved to Photos are managed separately through Apple. Restoring an older backup may restore previously saved data.
I keep support correspondence only for as long as needed to reply, resolve the issue, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Your rights
If the GDPR applies to you, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability where applicable, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. To make a request, contact hello@apopov.dev.
Peel content stays on your device, so I cannot remotely view, export, or delete it. You manage it in the app, in Photos, and through iOS settings.
You can also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live. In Spain, this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).
Changes to this policy
If the way data is processed changes, I will update this policy and the date at the beginning of the document. Where the law requires a separate notice or consent, publishing an updated version does not replace it.
